Mission Statement

Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club will be Canada's premiere swim club through an athlete-centric, coach driven, parent supported programme ensuring swimmers attain their competitive potential.

A Tradition of Excellence

The Trojans were founded in 1967, and have grown over the years to become the leading competitive and most decorated swim team in Atlantic Canada.

  • Past swimmers such as Nancy Garapick (world record holder and double bronze medalist at the 1976 Olympic Games), and Susan Mason (Senior National Team Member). More recent members such as David Sharpe (2012 Canadian Olympic Team) and Olivia Feschuk (2011 Canadian Youth National Team) have helped to put the ‘Trojan’ name on the Canadian competitive swimming map.
  • The Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club is a ‘Not-for-Profit’ organization run by a  professionally hired staff and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors,  including past and present Trojan parents and swimmers. The club is a very stable organization that has grown and developed, due in large part to the hard work and dedication of the member parents and volunteers.

HTAC prides itself on providing a swimming program where every athlete has the opportunity to excel to their desired level of performance. HTAC promotes the Appropriate Athlete Development (AAD) strategy outlined by Sporting Canada and Swim Nova Scotia. The club works towards the goal of being a model competitive club to the Atlantic region and across Canada.

Trojan Values

Trojan swimmers went through workshops in order to help identify what values Trojan swimmers wanted to emmulate and promote in their day to day lives. We believe that if all members of the Trojan community live by these values, it will help us on our path towards achieving our fullest potential

Respectful - Trojan's will show respect for teammates, staff, competitors, volunteers & officials, self, and all others

Supportive - Trojan's will work to help each other in the capacities that we are able to

Competitive - Trojan's will give our best effort whenever necessary

Coaching Staff

Our experienced coaching staff, many of which were once themselves Trojans, have a strong history and passion for competitive swimming. Our entire coaching staff is certified and apply their expertise to provide a positive training environment. Coaches supply a structured and progressive training system that is appropriate for the athlete’s age and ability level. Important skills outside the pool such as working as a team and striving for improved performance are emphasized in order to achieve common goals.
