Chris Cormier

Head Coach

In his first season as head coach for the Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club, Chris brings 13 years of coaching experience, ranging from pre-competitive to national levels in both Ontario and Nova Scotia. His background also includes roles at Swimming Canada and Own The Podium, giving him opportunities at major events such as the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, and World Junior Swimming Championships.

With a passion for success, Chris envisions a bright future for Halifax. His coaching philosophy centers on excelling in technical swimming, fostering teamwork, and cultivating positive environments. Chris prioritizes quality over quantity, aiming to develop well-rounded individuals as skilled swimmers and teammates.

Outside the pool, Chris resides in Bedford, Nova Scotia, with his wife Ashley, son Maxwell, and Basset Hound Beau!

Lauren loves swimming!

This Victoria local began swimming and coaching in B.C. ten years ago, during which she's worked with various age groups and ability levels through B.C. summer clubs, school group programs, and winter clubs.

Lauren moved to Halifax in 2019 to pursue a double degree in Recreation Management and continue her athletic career at Dalhousie, where she became a two-time USport qualifier. After retiring from competition in 2021, Lauren worked as a program coordinator for Swim N.S. and became the manager of the Dalhousie Tigers Varisty Swim Team.

Lauren believes that swimming is a sport that builds good people. She aims to foster a fun, positive and inclusive environment where athletes can achieve their goals. Based on her experiences, Lauren hopes to pass on her values of sportsmanship, resilience, and enjoyment of the process.

A few of her mantras include: Have fun working hard, but don't work hard having fun. There is no such thing as failure - reflect, learn, plan, prepare, and try again.

Lauren is thrilled to return to HTAC for a fun and fast 2023/2024 season!
